I am so sorry to read this. The outcome we fear as greyhound owners.

Lucy is lucky to have an owner who fought her corner to get her as comfortable as possible.

I
It's bone cancer, in the elbow and shoulder.

Possibility some nodules growing in abdomen and chest too, but no point doing biopsy now as won't change the outcome ...

As she's relatively comfortable, and heart and organs are working well enough for her to stay on the painkillers, she's coming home until they no longer keep her comfy. So she can be spoilt rotten for however much time she has left.

I can't do greyhounds anymore, I adore them but this is the second time I've been through this ☹️
I'm sorry it's the diagnosis you feared. I know exactly how you feel about greyhounds, we said the same about Rottweilers after the 3rd out of 3 got a cancer diagnosis. The last one had a great time for 6 months post diagnosis, including a holiday in Scotland to attend the wedding of one of her favourite people. We kept her happy and comfortable on Metacam, until she let us know that it wasn't as effective as it had been.
Fingers crossed that you can keep her comfy for a few months at least.

So sorry to read this :( At least you have some time to spoil her rotten and you won't be wondering if you are doing the right thing. Thank goodness you fought to get her diagnosed quickly.

So sorry that you and Lucy have to go through this TM. It is obvious from your posts how much she means to you, and how much care you take to look after her in the best way possible. The wonderful Lucy is a lucky dog to be loved so much, and I hope you and her enjoy your time together and create more happy memories despite the sad knowledge that you now have. Looking after older dogs can be very hard on the emotions, so be kind to yourself too x

She looks deliriously happy and delightfully nuts as only greyhounds and lurchers can in that last photo.
Terrible news for you, she will live every moment to its fullest with no knowledge of the future though
Enjoy her and the time you have.

Still a bit high from the GA I think 😂

I may have given her an entire packet of treats before this too 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Mieks worked it out I think, he's refusing to leave her side, keeps sniffing the shoulder and giving her kisses 😢

Then runs up to me with a worried look on his face 😔
Set me off earlier because he looked so upset, so he started licking me, he's the sweetest little soul, very sensitive to people's emotions. Be a great little therapy dog once he's a bit older
