Christmas Racing

I think Frodon is going to Bryony when they finally retire him (hope nothing happens to him, should be retired now imo) but my would he make someone a cracking SJ or eventer

I would love to see him doing another job, I would love to have a ride on him. He is going to Bryony which I love, they have a great partnership.

Il est francais is also 😍

I very rarely post but I often check in on the racing threads (happy childhood memories visiting the midlands tracks for jump meetings, but not Warwick because grandad didn't like the lack of visibility of the far side 😂). We've now got a couple of owners group horses one of which got placed at Wincanton today.

I had a couple of quid each way on Hewick but didn't think for one minute it was going to go his way! Was nice to see Shishkin back to seeming like he was enjoying himself as well, not sure Allaho was on top form but perhaps just not his day.

I was working today but have just watched it. Il Est Francais was just absolutely amazing. Stunning. What a totally gorgeous horse.
Constitution Hill. He’s such a dope, I don’t think he broke sweat. But the fractions were slower than Il Est Francais!
Gavin Sheehan saying ‘if it wasn’t the KG he’d have pulled up!’ What a finish. I never support Irish horses but you have to love Shark Hanlon. He’s loving it.

I can't deny being a bit worried about the Welsh National in this weather. It's always a slogfest, but I'd be surprised if more than a handful of horses finish if it's raining in Wales like it is here. Slow ground is generally safer than quick ground, but tired horses fall, and even those who finish well can give too much in the doing. Expect to see it won by something very slow but relentless. Maybe Iron Bridge or Truckers Lodge. I'd fancy Chambard in this weather too, if Aintree didn't take too much out. Or anything Gavin Sheehan is sitting on! 😂

🤣at the last sentence. I don’t like long distance staying chases, the last man standing thing is not for me. In this weather it will be attritional.

I enjoyed the racing yesterday, fantastic French horse. Gutted for Shishkin. Couldn’t get excited about the eventual winner, maybe I will be proved wrong. At least the connections enjoyed themselves! 😁

I was thrilled to see Shishkin be up front or close to the front, he seemed much more happier in that race!

Not sure how I feel about a 13 year old taking part (Max Dynamo).
I'm hoping the jockeys will be sensible and pull up anything that starts to struggle. Following your suggestions I've gone for Truckers Lodge in my ITV 7, it feels quite soon for him to be out again following the national race at Sandown.

What races are on today you'd recommend watching? Funny enough I've never ever really sat down to watch a race 😬😂
Do you have access to ITV? Today is the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow but also a good card at Kempton. They have the Wayward Lad novice chase (Grade 2) and the Desert Orchid handicap chase (Grade 2).

One year I’m actually going to get to Chepstow or the Welsh National, I’ve been saying it for the last three years 🤣

Is it possible to watch online or TV Leopardstown anywhere if you don’t have the Irish racing channel ?

I don’t think so unless you place a bet as Racing UK have the rights for Irish racing these days. Sky Bet etc will let you watch it on their app as long as you bet.

You can catch up on the races from Ireland plus UK on Sporting Life for free though if you don’t mind waiting.

Have just downloaded it, can only seem to find replays 🤔 I'm too young to set up a paddy Power account too which sucks! 😬 for some reason the TV we got doesn't work for racing TV
