I think it is important to let her old family know she is ok. The children may be worried and missing her. It was not them that gave her away it was the mum.

How about "CC has settled in well and is happy. I am afraid I am not up to having visitors as I am still struggling with grief over loosing KK and and need some solitude and my ME has flaired up which means I get easily tired. I can assure CC is being well looked after and appreciate it was difficult your family to give her up for adoption".
SO1 - you should be in His Majesty's Diplomatic Service.
I shall send a polite and careful reply based on your recommendations.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if CC was used like a toy by those children and would not welcome seeing them. We had a half grown kitten abandoned at our farm, just chucked in the hedge and she was a delight, so affectionate. However she wasn't averse to using her claws, vet named her Bramble, and she did not respond to voice at all to start with. We guessed that she had been acquired for children and having defended herself from being used as a toy had become unwanted so dumped at a farm. Their loss, she was a fabulous little cat.
CC is obviously appreciating a quiet home and the spoiling that goes with it. Lucky cat.

I had a polite text from PO's wife, enquiring after the welfare of Chubby Cat. Apparently, he's "too upset to ask, and the children want to see her soon".
I haven't replied yet. It's like I have a school teacher wanting to know when they can expect my homework to be in. I'm tempted to block the whole lot of them, but my "Be polite at all times, dear" upbringing is still deeply embedded. They did their best to send Chubby Cat with a half-bag of food, four unwashed/chipped dishes and three too-small collars, complete with bells.
Advice, dear friends? In polite terms, obviously.

Two words come to mind. Oh dammit I just read the last sentence 🙇‍♀️

'Thank you for you kind message. CC is still in the settling in phase, but is eating well and has sorted out her favourite sleeping places. I wasn't aware that you expected to come and visit her - my accommodation isn't really big enough for visitors, and I struggle with anxiety around strangers. I can assure you she has a home for life, and will want for nothing. Kind regards...............' The cynical side of me thinks there is far more going awry in that marriage than removing a cat will fix.

Good wording. That sounds about the right tone .

I completely agree, this is a great message - I have just caught up with the thread and I'm so glad to see she's settling in, any cat would be lucky to be served owned by you! ;)

How's cc doing?
CC is doing exceptionally well, thank you for kind enquiry.
Plump feet under the cat food mat, eating wet and dry food in small portions. She was only ever given dry food in her previous home, so, initially, was bolting the wet food at an alarming rate. This is now slowing down to one small tin of reputable chicken flavour per day, and a very small portion of the dry food that she was fed before she arrived with me.
She is a very heavily coated cat, and I don't think that she was groomed much previously. Now, she's groomed every day, and is loving it. Quite difficult to do as she winds herself round me whenever I groom her. May need to do her twice per day.
She's becoming more adventurous, greeting guests with animated "Prrrp! Prrp!!" noises and enthusiastic leg winding actions. Sitting down to read a book is not so easy. She makes her paw into a (very) heavy book mark.
Still following the initial advice from the late King Kevin Kat: shout loudly for anything you want. She does , as soon as dawn is thinking about breaking. About 0330hrs here.
I've turned into a Cat Step 'n' Fetch It Mk2.

I've been wondering how you have been getting on and am so pleased to hear that things are going well. I hope her previous owners are not giving you too much trouble.

Due to lack of relevant IT skills and only possessing an antiquated old Samsung A12 mobile which has my photos on it, I can't upload any of my CC photos. M E brain fog doesn't help either.
Perhaps someone could assist in this matter?
Many thanks.

Ooooh I love a happy ending! Keep us in the loop won't you? She sounds completely different from my hooligan cat, whom I was asked to take in as an eight week old kitten from a student household, packing up for the summer. He turned out to be just about six weeks old, eats anything, and spends most of the day in the courtyard crashing through the plants catching live bees which are then released in the kitchen. He's been up the curtains, under the bookcase, got his arm through the gap in the wardrobe door and pulled out what he could reach, and has hidden the remote control to the set top box, which meant a new set top box - and no, I haven't found it yet!

Madam Carrie Cat commands me to inform her worldwide fan base that the staff here seem competent, if a little tardy in refilling wet cat food dishes more than once a day, dutiful in arranging daily long grooming sessions, satisfactory in producing catnip mice to repeatedly torture and kill, and ensure that a comfortable lap and endless stroking is always available.
If, at any time, this level of service slips, MCC is quick to remind the staff with an admonitory claw. Any further transgressions will require a sharp nip. So far, this has not been necessary.

I notice the absence of treat giving. Please rectify this immediately.
Treat giving is delivered at least three times a day. Madam has declared a preference for Whiskas Cheese and Chicken, delivered by a fan further down the pontoon. Dreamies just don't do it, Daahlings.
Re: pics of Madam: she's the picture on my Facebook page. If someone would care to dm me, I'll tell them who I am in RL and, if they would be so kind, they could upload a pic of Madam asleep on top of the dog cage. On the cashmere throw, naturally.

Don’t do Facebook sadly, but hoping very much that someone who does will pm you because I’m itching to see the pic of Madam on top of the dog cage 💕!

Lovely to hear MCC has you wrapped around her furry paws RF! 🤣 Master KK evidently would only allow premier league feline slave-masters to take his place 😁

I discovered the other evening my male hunt-until-i-drop cat adores being groomed with the very spiky dog brush! His paws were as wide as my thighs with claws digging in as the delight of a good all-body scratch was administered. His purr volume seemed to surprise even himself! Naturally i wasn’t allowed to stop when thigh pain became too much, otherwise i got deeper claws as punishment 🤣
The dog witnessed the whole session, side-eyed begrudging of the cat getting attention with HER brush! The calamity we have to deal with with these furry owners! 😱
Everyone got a treat session just to ensure the attention playing-field was evened somewhat 😁
