Still difficult to prove, a good union rep should run rings around them. I have worked in a school and would be more worried about the common disregard of making sure children carry their inhalers, especially when they are going to play sport, or lack of post head injury care, which seems to happen every day in some schools. The trouble is we don't know the full story and probably never will. I think that only outcomes of serious allegations like physical and sexual abuse are published and sometimes they mention the name of the person, other times they don't.
The POT team has thresholds for implementation of a multi agency investigative meeting when an allegation has been made against a teacher of volunteer and should be applied when there is an allegation or concern that any person that works with children has:
No. 2 seems the most obvious choice.
- behaved towards a child or children in a way that indicates they may pose a risk of harm to children
- behaved or may have behaved in a way that indicates they may not be suitable to work with children
- behaved in a way that has harmed a child, or may have harmed a child
- possibly committed a criminal offence against or related to a child
