The coronation carriage, isn't this a bit excessive?

Yes, because of the way the traffic round here is filtered away from residential streets, it wouldn't actually be feasible to close 2 of the roads in the 1953 pictures however there's lots of side streets closed to through traffic on normal days that could and I'm on a cul de sac so perfect for a party.

The map I found showed private parties too and ones in community centres but it was London only.

I wonder if age demographics play a part too given the recent survey. I seem to remember, round here average age is younger than national average.

I am feeling a bit grumpy though because it's raining, buses are running less frequently than Sunday service, traffic is usual Saturday chaos and my horse likes a vet call out on a bank holiday so won't be able to relax till Tuesday.

OMG the train station has a recording of Charles and Camilla wishing everyone a safe journey wherever they're travelling. Problem is no one here is going anywhere in any direction.

You’re smarter than I am. I heard the recording too and presumed someone on the station staff was just good at imitations.

The roads here are quieter than normal. There's pockets of bunting around and the local extroverts have organised a street party a few streets over for tomorrow.

My mum is currently really enjoying watching the fun on the TV. It's her second coronation. I like the horses and the precision of the parades.

Village had event last week. Small town nearby has street party in High Street tomorrow. Village where I work has flags all down the main road. Not huge amount of bunting around in general though.

We had bunting on the gate and the horses would spook when seeing it flailing in the wind! The instructor also dressed up with a massive flag and a massive hat. Desensitisation at its finest 👌
The problem with mine is he doesn't do change. So you can desensitise him to something in a place but he can't abstract to a different thing in that place or the same thing in a different place. If the wings and poles by the school are put back in a different configuration, we have to work through the spooks, sidles and attempted teleports sideways in canter. That's what caused problems on Sunday, a huge flag appeared that wasn't there on the way out.

He's good for other things, didn't bat an eyelid when the air ambulance took off during a dressage test but tried to spin and leg it when he spotted a bucket.

David Olosuga on BBC discussing the monarch’s place and how it might change in future- very interesting!

I enjoyed watching it. It’s a nice distraction and a good excuse to celebrate.

I could have gone without it interfering with Badminton. I won’t be able to watch at work on Monday.

And in Hull, grimsby and several of the mining towns round me there is plenty going on, all very deprived areas

I had to travel round some really remote valley roads early this morning; loads of bunting, flags and everyone I spoke to talking about it and telling me what sort of lunch/celebration they were having. Even houses in places where no one will visit have bunting and flags up - there is clearly an appetite for celebration and unity in these parts! Back home to watch it all and feeling very cheerful. :)

I loved all the armed forces marching. And I know I’m Scottish but the pipe band gets me every time.
The mounted band were really impressive and the horses were so cool.

I struggle not to be happy when you see that many folk having a good time.

Did anyone see the interview with Emma May-Miller who wouldn’t leave her bedroom for anxiety but after being involved with the Princes Trust was now able to give an interview on TV? If that’s not a light at the end of a tunnel for someone I don’t know what is.

Some houses have flags and bunting up here and roads are definitely quieter than usual. A lot of independent businesses didn't open today.
