I had my horsebox tested last week and I asked the VOSA tester for the definitive answer about whether these are needed for the MOT test.
I have put an update on the thread in the Competitions forum.

I had my horsebox tested last week and asked the tester about exhaust brakes. He said that if one is fitted they have to check that "it is all there" but do not have to check the operation of it. So mine, which is totally seized up, was fine except that the rubber foot button on the floor is...
Look on eBay. There are some really good value ones second hand. Or look on amazon (I know, not the normal place for hunt gear). I bought a lovely new caldene one for about £226 and they are normally over £400.

It's as ROG said. You cannot use it without the MOT except to drive it to and from a prebooked MOT and maybe to a prebooked appointment to a garage to get work done on it (don't quote me on that last one though). Basically it's same rules as car MOT.
I use interparcel. If you use their standard service it goes UPS next day service and they are very efficient. You can dial in the value for insurance at time of booking. I've sent about 5 saddles. One to USA that sold for £1400. Look interparcel up on the web. Don't bother with yodel if I were you.
We use Mick Faulks in Harby.
Not sure how close to you that is. If it's close enough PM and I'll give you his number. Don't want to put a tel number in open forum.

I have the Heiniger Handy clippers and I tension them until they go quiet.
One thing I have had is that if you start clipping with too little tension you can end up with hair trapped between the blades and that stops the cutting edges from working. Just take the blades off and clean on the...
Clippers should not need servicing after 8 clips. Are your new blades heiniger branded ones or are they unbranded? I bought some look a like ones for my heinigers and they blunted very quickly. I stick to heiniger branded ones now.
Our lorry is 8' 1" across the width of the inside of the horse area. This is quite enough for all our horses including a 17.2hh to travel straight across without any herring boning. So, maybe if you slant your partition until you have about that length it might be a good staring point for where...
