Wow, pretty exciting XC and a proper test of horsemanship and correct training. Ros looks in a league of her own today on Walter and I'm so pleased to see Harry doing so well. I think there was at least one rider who got lucky today and IMO survived some rather reckless riding, I'm glad I'm not his mama! So pleased to see Jesse's round went well and also to see some of our young riders giving the olduns a run for their money. I'm looking forward to the SJ tomorrow.

Yes, he's in 3rd place with Annaghmore Valoner, 5th with Cavalier Crystal and 15th with Superstition. Two XC rides within the time and only Ros and Alex Bragg also managing to make the time. Pretty amazing riding on such a tough course.
Fantastic news!! I really enjoyed watching! Standard of horse welfare and riding was very high, no gung ho riders this year! One rider was pulled up though. Do we know why?

They pulled him up in front of us at the dairy mound. The commentators on the tannoy said they were glad he had retired as he had looked tired and a bit iffy prior to this. But he was definitely stopped by the fence judges.

The last french rider looked pretty scary going past us at the trout hatchery. More luck than judgement.

That was an interesting afternoon. Funny how these big competitions can play out. First of all everyone is frightened of the course, it looks unjumpable, maybe not many get round to start with, then it gets better with maybe some lesser known riders making a really good job, so its "Oh, its OK really" then there is another section of riders who start having trouble, some very well known, and then after that the final riders really concentrate and it goes better towards the end.

I have noted this pattern before watching televised competitions.

I would say very well done to everyone who got round, it looked a really hard course.

We went today. Saw almost every jump.
Kept missing all the falls!
Have a shattered toddler who has had a whale of a day! She ran and ran and ran, she climbed trees, she made new friends, she saw lots of horses and she clapped when horses cleared jumps.
On our way home now and she fell asleep cuddling her new dinosaur teddy before we even left the car park.

Will there be a running order posted for the trot up, can anyone remember this?

43 XC completions, 22 competitors were eliminated/retired/1 pulled up by GJ.

ETA Running order for final horse inspection has been posted 🙈. Starts at 9am. Harry Meade kicks it off with all 3 of his.

Looking forward to the last day today, so interesting yesterday, so many couldn’t cope and others made it look perfectly jumpable. Really didn’t like that double of corners, it caused so much trouble and yet a few jumped it perfectly.
Amazingly well done to Harry.
Before the last day’s jumping excitement I have to survive my granddaughter competing in the Burghley Sports Pony Gold Cup in the House Arena!
