Hi Bubblesbubbles! Do you know what part of the pelvis the chiro is referring to as 'out' by 2.5''? Exercises to strengthen the pelic/hip/hindleg muscles would probably be the main route of treatment to go down if this a recurring problem.
Hi all. Hope this doesn't come across as controversial!
Have been looking at some of the threads recently regarding various musculoskeletal disorders and just am commenting on a few observations... Why is it that recently SO MANY horses are being diagnosed with having ''sacroiliac''...
Depends on type/severity of the injury. "Pulled muscle" is a vry subjective term!! Ask th ephysio if there is any exercises/stretches/massage you can do between treatments to assist recovery :-).
Lunged neddy today...warmed up fine, looked normal. I attached side reins (not over tight) and continued trotting and cantering on the lunge, on the right rein. I then changed reins to the left, and he looked a bit 'off' on near fore. I also noticed he wasn't quite stepping under with diagonal...

Have a look at this, scroll down to the section on nosebands... Pursuaded me to ditch the flash and opt for a drop, works very well for my horse.
Does anyone have/know where i can find pictures/diagrams of a horses pelvis (front view) and skull? Tried googling but ended up with either crappy photographs or completely random things!
Books I have only have the pelvis viewed from side on, not much use as I have to compare its structure with...
My horse has done this for years (he used to weave, but started nodding instead when i put an anti-weave grill up!) - and it is really irritating! He does it when he's waiting to be turned out or fed, and if he see's me fussing over another horse instead of him!
The only thing that helps is...
it probably wouldnt work- because i doubt it tastes nice enough to lick off!
As regards squirting in mouth, you do it like you would use a wormer...!
What have you got it for, out of interest?
Anyone know of any good ones? pm me numbers if poss!
also, do you know how much i should expect to pay for a checkup and probably treatment?! just so i can rearrange the budget...
Hi there..
It sounds to me as if this horse has had these issues long before you got involved with it (probably why it was broken late, and turned away!)
Its attitude may be down to temperament, possibly pain etc, but more likely to do with its inconsistant training. You're teaching it thngs now...
Aha! Interesting..this sounds exactly like what my horse had last year!
He suffered with a recurring abscess under his jaw, which started off as a lump, kept growing, and eventually popped (gross-had free flowing pus for days!)
It would clear up, but it came back twice, after several months...
