    XC and SJ lessons

Mary King is based in Devon, so if you are South East thats a hell of a way! Where abouts in the SE are you? Brian Lear and Ken Spencer are both fab and are based in Sussex.

What kind of hat do you wear for dressage?

Have a look at the Charles Owen velvet hats with flesh harnesses. They look very smart and I always wore mine for SJ & dressage (where the rules states that a harness had to be fitted for dressage, i.e. riding club events).

Riding Club Horse and Riding Horse Classes?

Definately wouldnt enter a riding horse class with a cob type - too chunky really. Although - Sessle - I dont think I have ever entered a Riding Horse class at local level where the judge hasnt ridden - always be prepared for the judge to ride.

Riding Club Horse and Riding Horse Classes?

In a Riding Club horse class the horse is judged on overall suitability for all riding club activies. It should be ridden in a plain snaffle bridle (check the schedule as often says no spurs also) with no martingale. The judge generally will not ride. You will be requried to do a short show...

Buying a lorry with test nearly run out?

As already said - I doubt it would even sell! If you didnt sell it this month (presuming you are the seller and not the buyer) you would have to have it replated anyway to be able to sell in July. I would get it plated then sell - as a buyer, I would certainly not by a lorry/car without a...

Pricing a horse with sweet itch.

If his sweet itch is that bad, I would also hog him and take all feathers off - it will make it much easier to manage, treat and Im sure the horse would be more comfortable then. In an unfit condition, I would think you may get around the £2k mark for him but even fit, I wouldnt have thought...

    Standard Sale Contract ?

how many people would actually use it though? I recently sold my horse and was very upset to see him go but pregnancy forced the sale. I did a 2 1/2 page essay for his new owner on his likes, dislikes, what to do with him at certain times of the year, feeding, schooling etc etc. She was very...

    Spectator Parking Prices

I went to Borde Hill to watch/help a friend on Saturday and had to pay £10 to get in. The parking attendant was good though, and said that it was £10 for a car plus all occupants, but if you could park outside and walk in it was £5 on foot. Obviously if only 1 person in the car this was...

sarcoids on new horse and one with ringbone, help!!

Im afraid to say I agree with amymay - if you had the horse vetted then surely the sarcoids were picked up at the time of vetting so you were aware that they were there and decided to continue with the purchase of the horse, so I would say that you have no right to expect the dealer to...

    3.5tonne horse boxes, advice please

I had a 3.5t built last year for my 17.2 with 1.3 tonne payload. I would only ever travel him on his own so that we did not exceed the weight limit by the time you had tack, people etc on board and it was fine. I also had the build done with a higher headroom so that he had enough space...

Go onto the dressage at hickstead website and speak to them directly. They are really helpful and will be able to point you in the right direction.

    Dressage- would you ...

For prelim, although you can do sitting or rising, it is generally advisable to go rising trot. Even at novice, would rather see rising than sitting.

    best coolers?

Thermatex all the way if you dont mind paying a bit extra (or look on ebay!). They do a variety of weights depending on the time of year, but they are excellent. Otherwise - I go a Bucas one free a couple of years ago and that is also excellent and cheaper than the Thermatex

What would you do (re dressage competition)

Double check - but I think BD rules state (and I think this applies at medium level as well) that you do the test in sitting trot, but you can do rising for medium. I may be wrong, this may be at elementary (which you can now do at either sitting or rising) but worth double checking. Would...

Bringing a horse into work that hasn't been ridden in 6yrs

Personally - I would start breaking as normal from scratch and treat the horse as if it had never had anything done with it before. Better to be cautious than just jump straight on.
