Sounds like you are sorted paperwork-wise and I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs, but don't forget the tick & tapework treatment that is required 24-48 hours before they come in to the UK - so many dogs are failed on this seemingly minor detail and end up going into quarantine while the...
That was lovely Laura - I love seeing Herbie updates and this one was brill. Great to see him following you so closely - what a lovely reward for all your hard work. I don't think you could get a much more 'real' pony than Herbie - well done!
Another 'armchair eventer' here (ventured into Comp Riders to see what you are all saying about Badders). I know next to nothing about getting horses 4* fit, but wondered if the very bad winter set regimes back a bit (as already mentioned), coupled with the sudden onset of summer giving horses...
Any vehicle used to transport cattle must be cleansed and disinfected with DEFRA approved disinfectant before and after use anyway - so that should sort out any nasties. Ringworm and lice are all I can think of too...
Have only just caught up with htis thread - and realised that I should have added that the article did say to get someone else to carry the new born in - not put it through the letter box :)
Would also like to point out that I was only repeating something I had read, not necessarily...
I have absolutely no experience of introducing a new baby to an established 'pack' such as yours, but I do remember reading an article about doing so when I was in college. The thing I remember and thought was an interesting point was that when you first bring the new baby home you shouldn't...
I can't believe that nearly 60 people have looked at htis and no-one has posted to say:
Awwwww! How cute is that? She looks totally besotted in the first pic :)
We SO need a 'like' button on here...
Might be worth looking at World Horse Welfare's website, or even contacting them as they have a lot of interest in live horse export and transport in Europe.
DEFRA website worth a look for how things should be done.
It probably said it shouldn't be kept near livestock feed due to the (alleged) meat content and the risk to ruminant livestock eating it. I doubt it is anything to do with 'chemicals'...
From the title of an album by Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells) which I grew up listening to as my Dad is a big fan! Although it is an instrumental album there is a folk type song at the end called 'On Horseback', which is about how being on horse back is better than anything - 'Big brown beastie...
I wouldn't be too suspiscious of this horse not having a passportgoing by what you have said about the owner, but it is effectively an offence to buy an unpassported horse now as well as to sell. As others have said it will also need to be microchipped before it is passported.
If you are...
If the horse is right and you feel the time is right then the time is right. Everyone deals with these situations in their own way, some folk wait ages because they can't bear to 'replace' their departed horse; others can't bear the gap thta is left and fill it as soon as they can. This doesn't...
They were talking about uncollected rubbish on the radio earlier today and someone phoned in to say they had been advised to pour bleach on their bags to deter seagulls... yeah, and kill everything else into the bargain!
