Hmm, tough one. I'd say stick at current yard if yard two is your only option, but try to make some sort of arrangement for hay in the winter, charging £1.25 is a bit of a ransom!
If they won't let you buy your own in and store on site, maybe find somewhere to store a small square bale at home...
Always tempted to put newspaper down in the unused stables with nests above. That way when they go, you just roll it up and ta dah! No more baby bird poops!
Well, that's the theory anyway....
My stocky cob mare wears a snuggyhoods, she's 6ft in rugs and a 6ft snuggyhood rug suits her well. Possibly a teeny bit tight on the neck/shoulders (of the rug itself, don't use the neck as it's only for flies), but it would be easy enough to add a dart in to widen it if needed, and I know...
I think they /can/ lactate in season if I recall correctly.
Just checking, when you say she's deffo not in foal, have you had her scanned/checked to be sure?
Maybe worth getting a vet to check either way, as it could but due to hormonal imbalances. Best safe than sorry.
I'm a livery at Rollestone, started as Part and went to Grass livery. Nice yard, decent hacking. Turnout in small groups as of September, no individual turn out from then. People are friendly and very supportive. Grass, Part and Full available.
I've also been to Centyfield, nice place but more...
It's not just riders, it's people in general! Wish people would use the bins provided, or if none, just take it with you and bin it when you can! I can't be the only one who keeps a carrier bag in the car for putting rubbish in!
Is it possible to speak to the YO and explain that although you're related, you will be having nothing to do with your aunt and her foal? Just thinking it may save you from a bad situation down the line if it/when goes tits up and YO tried to turn to you?
